Part 2 – Charcoal Mask from Mary Kay

You may recall my post announcing the *NEW* Clear Proof® Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask  from Mary Kay!  Now I want to share my step-by-step routine using the mask.  I have very oily skin, and the warmer months makes it even worse.  So, I’ve been looking forward to the launch of this product since announced last summer.

First, I removed my makeup from the day.  I start with the award-winning Mary Kay Oil-free Eye Makeup Remover to gently remove my mascara and eye makeup.  Be careful around your eyes, because too much tugging and scrubbing can accelerate the formation of crows feet and sagging!  Next, I use the Original MakeUp Eraser to remove the rest of my makeup.  All you need is WATER, and the makeup is gone!!  With the makeup gone, I use a pea-sized amount of my normal anti-aging cleanser to make sure my skin is prepared to fully benefit from the mask.

Now, for the Charcoal Mask!

I smooth it on with my fingers, though some use a clean foundation brush. The aroma is amazing. The extracts of rosemary and peppermint deliver a fresh scent to awaken your senses.
I leave it on for 20 minutes, and you can now see the darker areas.  This is where my larger pores are, and where the product is working the most to absorb the oils.

Lastly, I simply rinse the mask off with warm water – no peeling!  I apply my Pore Minimizer, followed by my eye cream, lifting serum, and night cream from the TimeWise Repair® Volu-Firm® Set.

The next morning, my skin still looks and feels great.  I usually wake up with very oily skin.  But not this time.  And the best part, this mask is gentle enough to use every day.

Some more data from Mary Kay:

  • 79% of women and men confirmed that “skin looks clearer” after use.
  • Contains honeysuckle and navy bean extracts shown to target the appearance of skin discoloration and help soothe skin.
  • Suitable for all skin types.

I’m sold!  Let me know if you have any thoughts or want to try it.
