I’m not easily influenced by famous people. But today, I was truly sadden by the passing of Maya Angelou. If you didn’t know of her, I encourage you to do a quick internet search and become aware of the influence she had on this world. She is described as a poet, an activist, a storyteller, a teacher. Listen to this short NPR documentary of her life.
I had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Angelou speak a couple of years ago at the Texas Conference for Women in Austin, Texas. Though she was frail, her voice and spirit were strong. Her words and influence will live on.
Rest in peace, Maya!
